Saturdays are lovely...
Saturdays.....they are sublime. After a long week, working too hard, not enough fun and relaxation being had, it's finally here and with a long weekend attached to it to boot! It's also the first Saturday in September and I love Fall! Pumpkins and apples and the smell of wood smoke and new apples and knitting! It makes want to bakes pies and cook soups. I want to put pots of mums on my front porch ( if i had a front porch) and harvest my tomatoes ( which I do have on my fire escape). I want to go back to school shopping and buy pencils and notebooks and new school shoes. But despite my recurring nightmare that I am in high school and haven't been going to math class all semester or even opened the book, I am not in school, or college for that matter, I just work at one. It's great to wake up from those dreams.
Speaking of Knitting, it has been in fits and starts , which describes my life lately, fits and starts. But I did knit a baby hat of my own design this week. It's for a new baby boy named Shane recently born to a sweet young woman, a prior patient of mine for whom for whom I have a
very soft spot. It is done with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran in a lovely shade of blue. I casted on 60 stitches on #6 dpn's and did a k2/p2 ribbing in 8 rows. After the ribbing it is stockinette for 6 cm. The decrease begins with slip then passover, knit 4 and repeat. Then slpo and k3, slpo and knit2, etc, until there are three stitches left for an icord that is 8 rows long. I threaded the tail back through the icord to create a twisty little 'stem.' My only change would be knitting the ribbing in smaller needles, maybe on 4's or 5's. Otherwise I love it.
Well, today it's off to do errands ...the farmer's market, pet store ( Acme Pet Food, where Wile E. Coyote would buy his dog food, were he not a cartoon), and maybe a yarn store, who knows!
Here's the boy dog himself, hugging his new dirty rotten kitty.
Sammy's "hugs" are really a prelude to nice meal of the inner squeaker with Fava beans and a nice Chianti. Hannibal Lechter has nothing on this psychopath.

the hat is sweet & love making baby stuff from thhat yarn as well.
so, that dream you had is one of the most common stress dreams...my dad who is 67 still has it & often finds himself running around the university of minnesota in his sleep looking for his exam for the class he never attended....
