Saturday Sky
While hiding from the aftermath of Ernesto on Saturday I did a bit of blog surfing this weekend and found inspiration at every turn.
Over at Mason-Dixon Knitting : Kay has just finished her green mitered blanket and it is awe-inspiring. In addition, Ann mentions 2 books in her book nook that have been on my 'to read list' ; The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion and My Life in France by Julia Child and Alex Prudhomme. Thank you Ladies!
[I'm also putting Kicked, Bitten and Scratched: Life and Lessons at the World's Premier School for Exotic Animal Trainners by Amy Sutherland after hearing her on the Brian Lehrer show on NPR. ]
Theresa at Bagatell is doing her version of Cookie A's Pomatomas sock pattern from Knitty and it actually makes me want to knit some socks! Theresa lives in Norway and I loved reading 100 things about her.
J'adore Au Fil des Mailles... an advantage is that it is French, which I love to attempt to read, but her knitting is superb and the links to international blogs are fab.
Red Dog Knits has moved; if you enjoy using your pets as models for finished projects as I do, then you'll love this site.
We went to Philadelphia for the day today to stroll down memory lane. It's been9 years since we lived there and I have never been back. But I like Phildelphia...it's a pretty cool place, so here's tribute to Philly blogs: Knit and the City - Why didn't I know this woman when I live in Philly? Probably because I steered clear of knitting shops for fear of not having enough money to eat. Also check out Knitty Delicious, who caught my fancy with her posting of Dresses on the Red Carpet of the Emmy Awards...oh yeah baby!
I love Confessions of a Pioneer Woman - no knitting but tons of scatological humor, beautiful photos and prizes too!
We went to our old apartment in West Philly...
And Crashed a block party...
And I bought some crack, as the friendly salesperson called Koigu, at Rosie's Yarn Cellar in Center City. I am going to try socks!
Here's progress on my stripey-ribby baby blanket. The colors are not for the faint-of-heart-pastel-colored-baby-garment-knitters. I hope it doessn't keep the baby awake.

Between Mason-Dixon and Au Fil des Mailles? I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! :-)
